The House

A boutique hotel where urban and nature coexist.

Hucho House sits in the old town centre of Kranj, yet steps inside and it breathes like the countryside — a quiet garden below, a roof terrace above, and the Julian Alps on the horizon. Four rooms and one suite, elegant and earthly at the same time.

Named after Hucho hucho — the Danube salmon, largest of the salmonids — the house is the home base of a lifelong fly-fishing guide, and a doorway to all of Slovenia: Europe in miniature.

Fly Fishing

The home base for the rivers of Slovenia.

Kranj is the most central place to fish the country — from the freestone Soča and Sava to the gin-clear chalk streams of the Krka and Unica. Custom packages include guide, licence and transport: a complete service, from an angler who has guided these waters for a lifetime.

Trout & Grayling

Marble, brown, rainbow and brook trout, and grayling — across freestone rivers and spring creeks. Best on the chalk streams in May–June; freestone rivers fish well April and July–October.

The river's giant and the house's namesake. We fly-fish and spin-fish for Hucho when the season turns — timing led by daily conditions and the moon.
