Hucho House is a small boutique hotel at Tomšičeva ulica 10, 4000 Kranj, in central Slovenia. It sits in the old town of Kranj — 10 minutes from Ljubljana Airport and 20 minutes from Lake Bled.
By car: Ljubljana Airport 10 minutes, Lake Bled 20 minutes, Ljubljana 30 minutes, Triglav National Park and the Kamnik Alps 30 minutes, the Julian Alps 40 minutes, and the Soča Valley about 1.5 hours.
Yes. Kranj is the most central town for fishing Slovenia, with easy access to the Soča, Sava, Krka and Unica and their tributaries. The house is run by a lifelong fly-fishing guide, and offers custom packages including guide, licence and transport.
From March to November: marble, brown, rainbow and brook trout, plus grayling. From October to mid-February: Hucho, the Danube salmon. Chalk streams fish best in May and June; freestone rivers in April and July through October.
Four rooms and one suite. Room 1 (15 m², step-free and wheelchair accessible), Room 2 (19 m², open-plan bathroom), Room 3 (24 m², garden and Alps view), Room 4 (10 m², single with a foldable bunk), and a 45 m² top-floor suite with its own kitchen and roof-terrace access.
Yes. Breakfast is generally included and served in the hotel just across the street, or arranged at Hucho House. It is built around local produce — fresh fish and garden vegetables — with a special breakfast of locally farmed Hucho for occasions.
Room 1 is on the ground floor with no stairs and is suitable for guests using a wheelchair. Please contact us before booking so we can prepare for your arrival.
Yes. Rooms 3 and 4 can be combined into a family room, and Room 4 has a foldable bunk bed suitable for children.
Yes. Ljubljana Airport is only 10 minutes away; we arrange airport pick-up as well as transfers to the fishing rivers.
Every room has a private bathroom with shower, TV, coffee and tea, and free Wi-Fi. Shared facilities include a guest kitchen, a self-service bar, secure gear storage and drying, laundry service, a garden and a roof terrace overlooking the Alps.
